VYNBOS
On this magnificent native site, large-scale indigenous grassland restoration collides with bold architectural landscape elements of natural materials. The result is a sculptural landscape that responds to the outstanding borrowed views to the south and the west. The seasonal patterns created by wind, fog, and light quality endlessly transform the space through time.
The landscape masterplan is a contextual response that visually connects and scales the built landscape to its surroundings. The planting restoration establishes seamless connections to the native plant communities and ecologies surrounding the project. This project provided learning and research opportunities through careful site analysis that ultimately informed the patterns and design of the landscape.
